Huehuetenango farms are situated at high altitudes of 5,000 – 6,500 feet (2,000masl) in the mountainous region. This renowned area benefits greatly from the dry, hot winds originating from Mexico’s Tehuantepec plain. These winds create an additional layer of heat that protects the farms from frost, allowing coffee to thrive at astonishing heights. Due to the remote and elevated nature of Huehuetenango farms, producers often establish their own micro-mills. Fortunately, this region is abundant with rivers that facilitate the production of washed-process coffee.
Candelaria, one of Genuine Origin’s initial community lots, is meticulously crafted by our exceptional quality control lab in Guatemala City. Collaborating with producers throughout Huehuetenango, they consistently develop a blend of exceptional quality year after year.
